I’ve missed this

I have to say, I have missed this blog. I’ve been so busy, over the past year or so that I just haven’t done this justice. Or maybe it just felt like I was repeating myself and I was boring my own self.

That’s been known to happen 😏

But things have both leveled out and become chaotically familiar. And I’m not as scattered as I was before. So, it’s time to go a bit deeper with certain parts of my life and really find out what’s there. We don’t have enough depth, in my opinion, so rather than complaining, I’m going to do something about it.

One of the things I need to do is get $$$ support for this blog. I’ve been wanting to do it for years, but I’m feeling even more impetus to do it now. I’ve experienced a pretty amazing recovery from a long series of mild TBIs and I feel this intense drive to pass on what I’ve learned.

It’s worked for me. I need to help others, as well.

And I need to do it on a much larger scale than I have been. So, I’m going to put some thought into how to do that.

If you have any suggestions, let me know.

And that’s all for now.

I am a long-term multiple (mild) Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI or TBI) survivor who experienced assaults, falls, car accidents, sports-related injuries in the 1960s, '70s, '80s, and '90s. My last mild TBI was in 2004, but it was definitely the worst of the lot. I never received medical treatment for my injuries, some of which were sports injuries (and you have to get back in the game!), but I have been living very successfully with cognitive/behavioral (social, emotional, functional) symptoms and complications since I was a young kid. I’ve done it so well, in fact, that virtually nobody knows that I sustained those injuries… and the folks who do know, haven’t fully realized just how it’s impacted my life. It has impacted my life, however. In serious and debilitating ways. I’m coming out from behind the shields I’ve put up, in hopes of successfully addressing my own (invisible) challenges and helping others to see that sustaining a TBI is not the end of the world, and they can, in fact, live happy, fulfilled, productive lives in spite of it all.

  1. Have missed your blog posts. You cover the brain-stuff so well. Then I. An reblog it? Sometimes life lessons repeat u til we learn. We are naturally stubborn, it’s how we have survived. Cheers,H

  2. Ah, thanks for saying so. It’s good to be back. I kind of went on a “cosmic detour” for a while – just taking care of business and getting detoured by all kinds of other activities. Blogging here each day really helps “level me out”, so why not get back to doing it regularly?

Plus, winter’s coming (in the norther hemisphere), so I’ll have more time to relax. When the days get shorter, I feel better. All that sunlight gets irritating, after a while.

  3. Hey!

I have a brain injury and recently discovered your blog. There’s so many warriors that aren’t able to blog or vlog so I love to see folks like you getting the word out.

For making money from it have you looked into Patreon? It’s a way for people to support you with a regular amount each month.

For expanding your blog what about getting your blog done media attention? You could appear in newspapers, magazines, on radio and tv.

Take care and keep up the great work.

  4. Thank you. Blogging has been a big part of my ongoing recovery, and I’m fortunate to be able to do it. Patreon is a great idea. I will check that out. I don’t do any personal appearances, out of privacy concerns, but Patreon might be a perfect solution for me. Thank you for that suggestion.
